Emergency Helicopter Search and Rescue
Helicopter search and rescue (SAR) operations are emergency missions where specially trained aircrews use helicopters to locate and assist people in distress, often in hard-to-reach or dangerous environments like oceans, mountains, or remote wilderness. These operations may involve locating missing hikers, rescuing boaters lost at sea, or airlifting injured individuals from accident scenes. SAR helicopters are equipped with advanced tools such as rescue hoists, litters, and communication systems to safely extract individuals. Crews often include skilled pilots, hoist operators, and rescue personnel trained in emergency response and medical care. The primary goal is to save lives when time, terrain, or conditions make traditional ground rescue impossible.
